Why and How of Teaching Handwriting
During this interactive session, participants will learn how to provide explicit, developmentally appropriate instruction; use specific academic language; practice modeling techniques for manuscript- and cursive-letter formation; and employ instructional best practices to meet the needs of all students. Participants will also explore the handwriting-literacy connection, the stages of writing and developmental guidelines, and the importance of self-assessment in handwriting.
