Close the Reading Gap! Preventing the Need for Intervention Services in Grade 3 and Beyond
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!” According to the recent AZ Merit test results, only 44 percent of Arizona's third-grade students are reading proficient.
When it comes to ensuring all students are reading well by the third grade, we must seek prevention…not intervention. Research is clear: We have to close the reading proficiency gap during the critical first three years of schooling.
If at least 72% of your third-grade students are not reading on grade level, join us to learn literacy essentials all educators need to know about beginning reading instruction. We’ll explore the foundational skills and strategies necessary for building grade K–2 students’ capacity to read complex texts successfully by grade 3 and beyond.

We Are Literacy
At Zaner-Bloser, we understand that to be literate is to be proficient in reading and writing…plus spelling, vocabulary, word choice, and more.
Together with educators, we set the stage for joyful, successful learning in every classroom to ensure that today’s students are empowered with the skills to become tomorrow’s informed communicators, citizens, and leaders.
