Promote Good Penmanship and Celebrate Handwriting!

The Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest rewards outstanding manuscript and cursive skills among students in grades K–8 and recognizes the teachers who understand the importance of handwriting for developing literacy in all students.

Why Enter?
Participating students have the chance to compete for the honor of representing their school as a grade-level winner. School grade-level winners qualify to move on to the national level, competing to be named one of nine Grand National Grade-Level Champions. Each national champion receives a cash prize and a special trophy!

Who Is Eligible?
The contest is open to all students in grades K–8 (K–2 entries in manuscript and 3–8 entries in cursive) and includes a special needs category created in honor of Nicholas Maxim, a past participant whose passion for writing inspired the award.

How Do We Get Started?
Official entry packet and additional resources are available for download each fall on the How to Enter tab. All entries are due February 14—because we love handwriting!
